Series
Three arcs on cloud platforms and the people who run them — from failure modes through year one to the operating years. Pick a series, read the intro, then work through the posts in order.
Each tab opens an intro and the full post list for that arc.
Azure Landing Zones — Failure Modes
A pilot overview plus eight deeper field notes on the mistakes that show up before the first subscription is deployed — one failure mode per part, each with NZ field notes.
The focus is business context, governance, team design, delivery cadence, and operating models — not reference architecture trivia.
Written for cloud architects, DevOps engineers, and delivery leads running or reviewing a landing zone programme.

The Landing Zone That Survived
A fictional Wellington fintech, realistic problems — from mandate and discovery through Petone exit and the platform becoming invisible. Twelve narrative parts in programme order, after a pilot overview (Part 11 annual review opens the finale).
The focus is sponsors, fractional capacity, pilot partnerships, design arguments absorbed into one document, cost surprises, operating models under pressure, and decommissioning as a deliverable.
Written for platform engineers, cloud architects, and delivery leads who want the messy middle, not a sanitised case study.

After the Landing Zone — The Operating Years
The landing zone shipped. The pilot worked. Now the platform lives with real tenants, a real budget line, and an organisation that has stopped paying attention — which is both the goal and the problem.
One theme per part, NZ field notes in each. Chronological-ish across years two to four at fakey.xyz, with connective tissue to the failure modes and survival arcs.
Written for platform engineers, FinOps leads, and delivery leads who inherited a platform that "won" and now have to run it.
