About Me
Soft skills and experience behind the four engagements.
Fractional cloud architect and AI consultant
Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand
Senior cloud and AI help: strategy, delivery, and capability transfer, without a full time hire.
Kia ora. I am Steve, a fractional cloud architect and AI consultant for New Zealand organisations that need senior help without justifying a full time hire. Twenty plus years in the industry. I put people first and get results by understanding the problem before building the solution. Remote first from Dunedin, working with teams wherever the cloud reaches.
- Fractional architecture
- Senior judgement one or two days a week when a full time hire is not the answer.
- Roadmaps and reviews your team can act on, written in plain language.
- Workshops that leave executives and engineers clearer, without becoming their helpdesk.
- AI strategy
- Working out which ideas deserve investment, including when the honest answer is not yet.
- Use cases with owners and measures, not theatre for the board pack.
- Governance and build versus buy positions people can defend.
- Enablement and delivery
- Delivery capacity now on builds, reviews, and the operating habits that follow.
- Interim leadership and mentoring when hiring gaps cannot wait.
- Knowledge transfer so capability stays with your team after I leave.

About the Site
Why Voxelised.nz exists and how posts are written.
| Topic | Detail |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Cloud architecture and AI, with the tech treated as the easy part. This site is where I think out loud about the work: the decisions that made sense, the ones that did not, and the lessons from real engagements, told honestly from the middle of the journey rather than the case study version. Clarity over buzzwords, principles over prescriptions, and systems that stay resilient because the people running them understand them. |
| Audience | Cloud architects, platform engineers, and technical leaders who already know the platforms are the easy part. If you care more about why systems fall over, how decisions get made and unmade, and the people and process side of the job than about another feature announcement, you are in the right place. |
| Style | Plain language, short enough for one sitting, honest enough to admit what did not work. No analytics, no tracking, no pop ups. A static site that gets out of the way. Substance over spectacle. |
